Cebu-Bicol Montfortian Pilgrimage

PHILIPPINES - Last March 9, 2019, the Cebu Mission Team in collaboration with the Association of Mary Queen of All Hearts (AMQAH) had their annual local Montfortian Pilgrimage to southwest of Cebu. About 50 pilgrims converged at the mission house around 6 o’clock in the morning.
 
The pilgrims’ bus left the mission house to Carcar City for the first church to visit. While in the bus, the group prayed the Little crown of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Holy Rosary. Around 8 o’clock in the morning, they arrived in Domus Teofilo in Villadolid, Carcar City to celebrate the Holy Eucharist. Fr. Rene S. Bustillo, SMM, the head of the Cebu Mission Team presided the celebration while Fr. Federick B. Yumang, SMM, the AMQAH National Director concelebrated and preached during the Mass. After which, the group proceeded to the following churches: Archdiocesan Shrine of Sta. Ana in Barili, St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Dumanjug, St. James the Apostle Parish in Badian, San Nicolas de Tolentino Parish in Malabuyoc, St. Gregory the Great Parish in Ginatilan and St. Michael the Archangel in Samboan.
  
The Way of the Cross was prayed from the first church up to the last. While in the bus as they went back to the Mission House in Minglanilla, the pilgrims had a sharing of their experiences during the local Montfortian Pilgrimage. Last April 1, 2019 around 8 o’clock in the morning, the 45 pilgrims from Cebu left Mactan International Airport to Legaspi Airport with Fr. Rene S. Bustillo, SMM and Bro. Reynaldo Silverio, SMM for the 11th National Montfortian Pilgrimage.
 
The evening before March 30, 2019 at 8 o’clock in the evening, Fr. Federick B. Yumang with 2 pilgrims left Manila by bus for Legaspi City, Albay. Around 10 am, the two groups met and their service bus took them to St. Gregory the Great Cathedral in Legaspi City for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist.
 
During this six-day pilgrimage, they have visited 11 Historical and Centuries-old churches. Among them are: St. Joseph Parish in Camarines Sur; Our Lady of Peñafrancia Shrine in Naga City, Camarines Sur; St. Peter & St. Paul Cathedral in Sorsogon City, Sorsogon; and Our Lady of Salvation Shrine in Tiwi, Albay. The Holy Eucharist was celebrated daily. The Way of the Cross was prayed in Kawakawahill Natures Park in Ligao City, Albay. It was also an opportunity to visit some famous tourist spots of Bicolandia such as Mayon Volacano, Bulusan Lake, Mayon Planetarium in Tabaco City, Albay and Cagsawa Ruins in Albay.
 
The group stayed at the Divine Mercy Monastery of the Carmelites Sisters in Ligao Albay, Peñafrancia Pilgrim Center in Naga City, Camarines Sur and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Redemptorist House in Legaspi, Albay. The Holy Eucharist was celebrated at 5 o’clock in the morning at the Chapel of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. It was presided by Rev. Fr. Rene Bustillo, SMM who was also celebrating his sacerdotal anniversary that day with Fr. Federick as concelebrant. After breakfast, the group went to Legaspi Airport for their 7 o’clock flight to Manila then Cebu.
