Father Pierre Bonhommeau, SMM: Man of Faith and Prayer
SAINT-LAURENT-SUR-SEVRE, France - Born on 20th June 1937, Fr. Pierre BONHOMMEAU, SMM, a man of faith and prayer, died on April 13, 2022 in Cholet, France. He was laid to rest on Holy Saturday, April 16, 2022 at Saint-Laurent-sur-Sèvre cemetery. Many confreres and his relatives sent eulogies and how they remember Fr. Pierre.
On behalf of Saint-Laurent-sur-Sèvre community and the Province of France, Fr. Paulin RAMANANDRAIBE, SMM, the Provincial Superior, mourned Fr. Pierre as a man of faith and prayer.
Pierre was a man of faith and prayer. He was faithful to his pace of life. Always, he had a positive outlook, he never complained during his illness. Zealous priest, he preached the gospel with passion. Known by the accompaniment of people in difficulty with the Vittoz method, he helped a lot of people. Generous and available, he confessed and welcomed many people at the Basilica every Wednesday afternoon. Disciple of Father Montfort, he participated in popular missions and the diffusion of Montfortian spirituality with Montfortian pilgrimage centers. He was faithful to the consecration of Jesus by the hands of Mary. Faithful to the teaching of Pope Francis, he followed every Sunday the Angelus of Pope Francis. Peter was appreciated by his welcome, his smile, his kindness. Everyone is grateful to him and gives thanks to the Lord for his testimony and his service rendered to the Church, the Congregation and Humanity. May the Lord welcome him to His house with Saint Louis-Marie de Montfort and the Blessed Marie-Louise of Jesus. Stated the eulogy that was read by Br. Daniel, SMM.
Frs. Felix PHIRI, SMM and Joji KALARICKAL, SMM in the General House community in Rome, corroborated the same by saying Fr. Pierre was a welcoming, generous and prayerful confrere.
Nephews and nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces of Fr. Pierre eulogized him as an uncle who cared for his family members and the Montfortians. He was enthusiastic with new technologies and protected more his twin sister, Anne, who was present at the burial ceremony.
You have always transmitted to us your affection, your Hope, your confidence in LIFE, your Faith. Thank you for your attention to each of our families. Thank you for your open-mindedness, your youthful heart, your outlook in the world through your life within your Montfortian community. We know you will continue to watch over us alongside all those who have left us. Don't worry Uncle Pierre, we'll take care of your twin, Anne! Meanwhile, on 18 April 2022, at Saint-Laurent-sur-Sèvre in France, we lost Brother Maurice DUPÉ, SMM, who died at the age of 93 with 63 years of Religious Profession. The sad news continued with the death announcement of Father Lucien RIJANIAINA, SMM who died in Antananarivo, Madagascar on 19 April 2022, aged 35 with 5 years of Religious Profession.
