FLORES, Indonesia - On June 2, 2020, ten novices of the Province of Indonesia made their first religious profession at the chapel of the Novitiate in Ruteng, Flores. Prior to their profession, these young confreres had undergone 33 days of Totus Tuus Journey and 7 days of final retreat, followed by the total consecration to Jesus through Mary. This marked the end of their novitiate year and they will proceed to the next stage of formation.
On June 1, the acceptance of their vows was done during the Holy Eucharist presided by the Provincial Superior, Fr. Anton, SMM amid a high alert of COVID-19 outbreak and tight social distancing protocol including a strict policy on limited attendees in religious gatherings. This very simple celebration was attended by a few family members of the newly-professed, some Montfortian confreres and the Daughters of Wisdom who are living around the city of Ruteng. A simple lunch was served to all the participants right after the Eucharistic celebration while observing the social distancing policy.
Despite of all these restrictions, we are all filled with joy and gratitude to know that God continue to respond to the prayer of St. Louis-Marie de Montfort for the Company of Mary. We pray that these young men will persevere and be faithful to their vows.
Fr. Antonius Tensi, SMM
