Four new SMM deacons in India

BANGALORE, India - Indian vice-province witnessed the diaconate ordination of four Brothers namely, Abhilash MARIYAPPA, Amit Dung DUNG, John Jacquet VINCENT and Daniel Selvakumar SEKAR, on 1 February 2025. It was conferred by Most Rev. Rozario MENENZES SMM Bishop of Lae, Papua New Guinea. The solemn Holy Eucharist was celebrated at 7:00am. Bishop preached in the homily about taking risks for God, fidelity to faithful prayer life, selfless service, and preaching of the word of God, in the life of a deacon. Bishop emphasized that Diaconate in the early Christian Community was a profound and important sacrament in the life of the Church, marking the beginning of a lifelong commitment to the point of risking one’s life.
The ceremony as a whole could be summed up in Jesus words, “I came to serve not to be served” (Mt 20:28). The ceremonial Mass was a Montfortian family celebration in the presence of provincial Rev. Fr. Sebastian RAJ SMM, Fr. Dominic SMM the Vicar and few other Montfortian priests. The ceremony came to an end with the vote of thanks given by Dn. Abhilash MARIYAPPA SMM.
Vice-Province of India wishes them fruitful ministry in the vineyard of the Lord and rejoices with the mother Church for these newly ordained deacons who are on their feet to become the harbingers of Faith, Hope and Love to the ends of the earth. May these four men drunk with new wine win many souls for Christ and His Church.
