Groundbreaking and Site Blessing of St. Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort Parish Church in Dagupan City

DAGUPAN CITY, Philippines - On December 8, 2020, in celebration of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of Mary, the Montfort Missionaries Philippine Delegation joined the SMM Dagupan Community in its groundbreaking and site blessing of the Parish Church in Bolosan, Dagupan City. The event started at 9:00 in the morning with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist at the covered gymnasium of Judge Jose de Venecia School which was presided by the Archbishop of Lingayen-Dagupan, Archbishop Socrates B. Villegas, DD with Fr. Richard Magararu, SMM, the parish priest, Fr. Norwyn Baydo, SMM, the delegation superior and some SMM priests concelebrating.
Despite the pandemic, a good number of people from different parish areas participated in the said event. The occasion was graced by the different SMM Communities: the Scholasticate, the Collegians, and the Association of Mary Queen of All Hearts who gave their support and love.
In his homily, the Archbishop highlighted the celebration of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of Mary using the Doxology of the Eucharistic Prayer: Through Him, With Him and In Him to Through Her because of the mercy of God, With Her because Mary can be found with the poor and In Her because we are children of Mary in her heart.
After the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, Bishop Soc led the faithful in a procession towards the site of the parish church to be built for the groundbreaking and blessing. After the groundbreaking ceremony, everyone proceeded to the new mission house in Salisay at the back of Saint Joseph Chapel for the blessing. It was presided by Rev. Fr. Norwyn V. Baydo, SMM. After the blessing, Fr. Richard thanked everyone who joined in this joyous occasion of the parish and a sumptuous meal prepared by the parishioners was served and shared by all.
