Montfort Jubilee 25 in Rome

ROME, Italy- The Jubilee of Young people is celebrated in Rome with the opening Mass on 29th July. It is a central event of the jubilee year, with over a million pilgrims expected. After the opening Mass with over half million youth present, Pope Leo XIV in his popemobile visited the young pilgrims present in St. Peter’s Square and down Via della Conciliazione. The pontiff greeted the youth in Italian, English, and Spanish.

Among these youth, over 78 participants are young Montfortian confreres and youth from Europe and other continents under the Montfort Jubilee 25. These are joined by young people from the parish of St. Louis de Montfort, Monte Mario in Rome. They are hosted in the parish itself and at the General Curia of the Montfort Missionaries.

The day began with the Montfortian Pilgrimage on July 29th with passage through the Holy Door at St. John Lateran, preceded by the Holy Rosary from the Basilica di Santa Croce in Gerusalemme. Hundreds of the youth present at St. John Lateran were amazed with our pilgrimage group for our unique prayers of the Rosary and chanting of Magnificat led by Fr. Marco PASSINATO, SMM, who is also one of the organising committee members. The Montfortian pilgrimage taste reached at its climax with the renewal of baptismal promises in one of the chapels in St. John Lateran.

The initiative of the Montfortian Youth Jubilee 2025 (MontfortJubilee25) in Rome, from 28 July to 3 August 2025, is open to young people aged 18 to 35 accompanied by the Young Montfortians of Europe (JME), who are also joined by young people from other continents. Montfort Jubilee25 is one of the first shared initiative of young Montfortians in Europe known as Jeunes Montfortains d’Europe (JME) 2024-2029 project approved by all superiors of the European Entities.
