Pilgrims of hope Jubilee of Marian Spirituality
The following is a short account of the experiences of Lomita Baheru Gabremichael, a Montfortian Associate from Bergen, Norway, who undertook a pilgrimage to Rome to participate in the Jubilee of Marian Spirituality on 11-12 October. During this pilgrimage, she and two associates from Bergen stayed at the Generalate of the Montfort Missionaries. Throughout the duration of the pilgrimage, a series of joint activities were undertaken with Associates from France.
BERGEN, Norway - Our God is kind, loving, tender and merciful. He is closer than our breath. On my way to Rome, I realised that he was taking me to the very thing I had lost in the past years: hope!
As we continued with our pilgrimage, we experienced God’s kind love through God himself. I experienced it through his mother too, Mamma Mary! I saw the same thing with my brothers and sisters. We had the pleasure of meeting our pope Leo XIV during the gathering. We prayed the rosary, took part in adoration and celebrated Mass with him. I felt really blessed by the friendship and prayers shared with the other pilgrims and with our pope. I met many kind and inspiring people on my journey.
During our pilgrimage, we stayed with the Montfort Missionaries. The kindness and attention they gave us made our experience really special. We were made to feel welcome by their community. They all did their best to make us feel comfortable.
For me, this pilgrimage showed me that Jesus is still our hope, for me and for all of us. God is with us in the middle of this. The presence of Our Lord and his mother gave me back the hope that I had lost.
These are the blessings I know I received, and I am certain that his blessings are much deeper than I can understand.
