Postulancy Formation in Madagascar

ANTANANARIVO, Madagascar - In commemoration of the Guardian Angels, on Thursday, September 2, 2025, in Andraisoro, Antananarivo, the Entity of Madagascar had the joy of welcoming new candidates for the postulant programs. There are 16 young people who will follow the training and studies in philosophy: 7 in the first year, 6 in the second year, and 3 in the third year.

The formation program of postulancy 2025-2026 began with a three day of retreat led by Father Arsène RATAFITASOA, MS. In his preaching, he drew the attention of the young people around the theme: "Young leaders and pious whom God desires in our current world." He emphasized that, if we truly want to be witnesses of Christ, we must not neglect the relationship with God through prayer, especially the consideration of Mary as Mother who manifests our unity with God.

A Eucharistic celebration presided by Father Jean Joël RANDRIANARIVOMANANA, SMM, the Provincial Superior, marked this important moment. In his homily, he invited the young people to abandon everything in order to let themselves be led by God Himself and to live their formative life fully as Montfortian candidates. Relying on the prayer of Saint Louis Marie de Montfort, and in reference to the Gospel of the day when Jesus sends the seventy-two disciples, he recalled that we must be free, according to the inspiration of our founder.

“Montfort left everything, including his family to abandon himself entirely to God”.

He added that young people are not alone in this journey: Father Joseph Victor RATAFITANIAIANA SMM, the new youth leader and Brother Ernest LALANANDRASANA SMM will accompany them. The confreres members of the provincial and postulant community were also present at this celebration.
