JOÃO MONLEVADE - MINAS GERAIS, Brasil – Fr. Guilherme BRANDAO FERREIRA, SMM, the Parish Priest of San Luis de Montfort Catholic parish in João Monlevade - Minas Gerais in Brazil shares with us about the feast of Saint Louis Marie Grignion de Montfort. The path of preparation for the great solemnity was a unique one after 2 years of restrictive covid-19 preventive measures enforced by the government, he shares. Excerpt:
It is with great joy that our community shares with you this year's feast of Saint Luis ed Montfort. On this particular day, the joy was special. It's been 2 years because of the Pandemic that we have not celebrated with the presence of people a little more freedom.
The procession for the city street was a unique moment full of emotion and deep spirituality. For 9 days we were accompanied by priests from other parishes with the participation of people from several communities in two centres (Loanda and Cruzeiro Celeste) of concentration to facilitate participation. Every day there was a topic on the life and spirituality of Father de Montfort.
Between prayers and meditations, the path of preparation for the great solemnity was noted for the mistic of procession; walking together and making known a very important aspect of the testimony of holiness of Montfort who with his life made the deference. And not only in the society and the church of this time, but in our life and our time. Saint Luis really became different and gave us the secret to make the difference too: He became an extinguished torch, a man consumed by the fire of charity.
