Sharing of Experience on Jubilee Marian Spirituality
BERGEN, Norway - From 9 – 13 October 2025, I had the great joy, together with two other associates from Norway, to stay at the General House of the Montfort Missionaries while attending the jubilee days of Marian devotion in Vatican and Rome. I will share my experiences as a threefold adventure:
The experience of being a pilgrim in the Jubilee year in Rome
To go on pilgrimage is always a grace from God. God is calling me to come closer to him, to grow in relationship with Him. This was first time for me to go as a pilgrim to Rome, which I think is walking to the heart of the Church. And this year going on pilgrimage to Rome is so special because of the Jubilee year: God is calling, through the pope who invites us, to come and receive Gods graces and mercy which he pours out so abundantly to us. Although there are churches which have been appointed as pilgrim churches in our own country, it was very special to go and receive these graces, God’s forgiveness and indulgence, by going to confession in St. Peters Basilica and entering the holy doors with the prayer for the pope’s intensions on my tongue and expressing my total love and belonging to God. God is so merciful!
The attendance in the Jubilee days in the Vatican
As I come from a country where catholics are in minority, it was a very great experience to be together at St. Peter square with so many thausands of catholics from all over the world. Although most people there unknown to me, the unity was still there, visible in our expression of faith and celebration of the Mass, and especially with the presence and leadership of the Shepherd of the Church, pope Leo XIV.
In all different languages we prayed together the Rosary, as the Virgin Mary so many times in the history has come to ask us to do. A great reminder about that was the presence of the original statue of Our Lady of Fatima. This is her message to us also today: Keep praying the Rosary! And pray it with joy, confidence and hope because Mary is our dear, tender Mother who is always near and leads us to Jesus. This was also clearly expressed by pope Leo XIV.
The special adventure of staying together with the Montfort Missionaries and being together with other associates from the Montfort Family
Lomita Baheru Gabremichael, Adriana Burgos and I from the Mary, Queen of All Hearts – group in Norway are thankful to the Montfort Missionaries who invited us to come and stay with them in their General House for these days. They were all so kind, gentle and friendly, with Fatherly care, guiding us to Masses and some of the Holy sites in Rome. We really experienced to stay among our brothers, which we indeed are. It was a great time to renew our consecration in their chapel with the relics of St. Montfort and blessed Marie Louise and see the reproduction of the original manuscript of True Devotion. The time we spent together and the meals and talks we shared with the French group of associates was also a blessing for us. We hope to meet them again in the footsteps of Montfort in France in not too long time. Lastly, I must say that I have never had so much fun playing UNO as we had together with the Montfort Missionaries in the evenings!
