Three Confreres obtained their Licentiate in Rome this year

ROME- In this year 2021, three of our confreres namely, Fr. Prem Kumar, Fr. Peter Makina and Fr. Judis Valan have successfully completed their licentiate in Rome. Fr. Prem who is from India did his licentiate in Dogmatic Theology at the Gregorian University. Fr. Peter Makina who hails from Malawi, did his licentiate in Pastoral Ministry for the Youth at the Salesian University and Fr. Judis Valan who is from India did his licentiate in Spiritual Theology at the Gregorian University. All the three will be leaving Rome shortly. Fr. Prem and Fr. Peter will go to their respective places for the new mission and Fr. Judis will continue his formative studies for one year in France. As they thank God for His providence and guidance during these two years of their licentiate, we congratulate them for their achievement and wish them God’s blessings and fruitful mission...

New Administration of the Vice-Province of India

On 29 June 2021, Father Luiz Augusto STEFANI, S.M.M., Superior General,
with the consent of his Council (C 215), has appointed

Father Peter MASCARENHAS, S.M.M
as Superior of the Vice Province of India for a mandate of three years.

The Councillors are:

Father Shibi Jose THOOMULLIL, S.M.M.
Father Prem KUMAR, S.M.M.
Father Nagavara Ashwani Kumar MADDALA, S.M.M.

The mandate of the new administration will be effective from 20 July 2021.

First Profession 2021 at Kanathi

Making the First Religious Profession is something that gives immense joy. Certainly, it is true as we, the 7 novices, experienced that wonderful feeling when we made our First Profession. As our Holy Founder states in his letter, we could experience that same spirit of love while professing our vows. The joy of entering a new life and becoming a member of a new family was experienced by each one of us. We feel protected as we entrusted ourselves into the hands of Mary and made our Profession. We are also proud of being Montfortians by living our lives with the spirit of our Holy Founder, St. Louis-Marie de Montfort...

Giving Oneself to God Alone

RUTENG, Indonesia - On the Feast of Mary's Visitation to Elisabeth, ten novices in Ruteng, Indonesia joined the Company of Mary by making their First Religious Profession. It was held during the Eucharistic celebration at the chapel of the Montfort Novitiate, Labe, Carep, Ruteng, Manggarai, Flores, Indonesia on the 31st of May 2021. Installation of Rev. Fr. Rene Bustillo, SMM as the New Director of the Chaplaincy of Saint Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort

DAGUPAN CITY, Philippines - Last April 28, 2021, on the Feast of St. Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort, around 9 in the morning, the Montfort Missionaries - Philippine Delegation, together with the Montfortian family in Dagupan took part in the celebration of the Holy Eucharist and the Installation of Rev. Fr. Rene Bustillo, SMM as the New Director of the Chaplaincy of Saint Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort. The Holy Mass was presided by Most Reverend Socrates Villegas, D.D., Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Lingayen-Dagupan and was concelebrated by some Montfortian priests, namely: Rev. Fr. Richard Magararu, SMM, Rev. Fr. Angelito Pusikit, SMM, Rev. Fr. Santiago Casing, SMM, Rev. Fr. Benjie Notarte, SMM and Rev. Fr. Federick Yumang, SMM. It was held at the gymnasium of Judge Jose De Venecia Memorial Senior Technical Vocational School in Bolosan. Before the start of the Mass, there was a short procession of the images of St. Louis-Marie de Montfort and the Blessed Virgin Mary. In front of the altar, images of the different patrons of every chapel were there to remind us also of the unity and participation of everybody in this celebration...

The How and the Why of our Vocation

KISANGANI, RDC - On Wednesday, 7th April 2021, his Excellency Marcel Utembi Tapa, Metropolitan Archbishop of Kisangani / DR Congo, presided over the Holy Mass at Saint Paul Apostle Parish (in Kisangani). During the Eucharistic Celebration, there was the diaconal ordination of the three brothers: Robert Natutwande, Elisée Kambale and Ignace Messinou. All of them are Montfort Missionaries of the Company of Mary and members of the General Delegation of Francophone Africa / GDFA. The first two are Congolese, while the third is a Togolese (the very first time to have a Togolese deacon in our Entity)...

Africa Anglophone Delegation encouraged on Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation

MANGOCHI, Malawi - On 24th March 2021, the confreres of the General Delegation of Anglophone Africa working in Malawi had a one-day colloquium on Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation (JPIC) that was facilitated by Fr. Steve Mukusa, SMM. In his sessions, Fr. Steve, who is the promoter of JPIC in our entity, invited all the members who attended this workshop to collaborate with God and each other in our effort to fulfil the fundamental role of caring for our surrounding environment. His input largely drew insights from the Scriptures and other Church documents, as they provide the foundations of the Commission on Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation...

African Anglophone Delegation holds a 3-day workshop

MANGOCHI, Malawi - Every human needs a sense of belonging, being understood and feeling loved. Realising these imperative concepts, Anglophone Africa General delegation gathered from 23rd to 26th March, 2021 to cheer each other up, giving morale to the beautiful apostolates each is doing so as to bond and understand each other well for the betterment of the mission of the Lord. Aside of bonding, the gathering was also complemented with the workshop which Fr. Steve Mukusa SMM gave on justice, peace and the integrity of creation, a training he himself got from the meeting he attended in Rome in 2019. In his presentation, Fr. Steve emphasised the need for all members in the delegation to care for all creatures heeding to the encyclical, Laudato Si which pope Francis promulgated in 2013. All members concurred with the presentation that, no matter how minute we may contribute to improving our environment, it would matter a lot. “As all members try each day to live their religious calling in view of the three vows and the law of love, they should also remember to put creation to heart”, Fr Steve said...
