Installation of Bros. Samuel and Christopher to the Ministry of Lectors and Acolytes
QUEZON CITY, Philippines – Inspired by the example of Christ's selfless commitment to service, the Philippine Delegation of the Montfort Missionaries thanked God for the grace of vocation as two of their scholastics were installed to the Ministry of Lectors and Acolytes. It was held at the chapel of the Delegation House in Quezon City last January 18, 2022.
The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Rev. Fr. Norwyn V. Baydo, SMM and Rev. Fr. Federick B. Yumang, SMM as concelebrant. Due to pandemic, no visitors were invited. However, it was livestreamed on the Montfort Missionaries Scholasticate Facebook Page. Bro. Samuel M. Gonzales, SMM was installed to the Ministry of Acolytes while Bro. Christopher S. Mejia, SMM was installed to the Ministry of Lectors.
Being installed as a lector, Bro. Christopher is entrusted with the responsibility of proclaiming the Word of God, instructing others on it, preparing candidates for sacraments through it, and meditating on it daily. While receiving the ministry of an acolyte, Bro. Samuel is entrusted with assisting in the distribution of the Eucharist and building up the body of Christ, the Church.
In preparation for the reception of these two important ministries, Bros. Samuel and Christopher had a day of recollection with Rev. Fr. Benjie A. Notarte, SMM, the Scholastic Master, accompanying them. It was held at the Montfort House of Prayer in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan last January 17, 2022.
We continue to include Bros. Samuel and Christopher in our prayers. May the intercessions of our Mother Mary, St. Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort and Blessed Marie-Louise of Jesus continuously illumine their hearts in doing their ministries faithfully. May their lives be enkindled by the light of Christ's selfless commitment to service, all for God Alone.
