TTJ Recollection and Consecration in Kalangahan
CEBU, Philippines - On January 16, 2021, thirty-three lay persons from the mission area in Purok Talisay, Brgy. Kalangahan, Tuburan, Cebu made their consecration to Jesus through Mary according to the teachings of St. Louis-Marie de Montfort. The celebration of the Holy Eucharist and the Rite of Consecration started at 10 o’clock in the morning presided by Rev. Fr. Federick “Fed” B. Yumang, SMM, the AMQAH National Director with Rev. Fr. Rene S. Bustillo, SMM, the Head of Cebu Mission Team.
The first part of the liturgy, The Allegiance to the Word, was held outside the San Isidro Chapel. Then, in procession, the congregation went to the entrance of the chapel for the renewal of Baptismal Promises. The rest of the celebration was held inside. The event was attended by the SMM Scholastics who are on their mission year in Cebu, namely Bro. Ronald Baruela, SMM and Bro. Harold Montoyo, SMM together with SMM collegian Jessie James Datulayta and the AMQAH members from Minglanilla, Naga, Kinatarcan Island and Cebu City. The celebration ended around noontime and a sumptuous meal was shared by everyone.
A day before the consecration, the 33 new consecrated lay (TTJ Batch 24) had their day of recollection at the same chapel and was animated by Fr. Fed. The recollection started at 9 in the morning with sharing and synthesis of the whole 33-day preparation. At 2 in the afternoon, the celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation together with Fr. Rene followed. The day was concluded by the celebration of the Holy Eucharist presided by Fr. Fed with Fr. Rene concelebrating.
The new TTJers are filled with joy and gratitude to God that finally, they were able to make their consecration after being on hold since the beginning of the lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The original date was March 25, 2020, the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord but was put on hold following the declaration of nationwide lockdown on March 15. They are all looking forward to living out their consecration Through, With, In and For Mary (TWIF Mary) so that they will be able to do everything Through, With, In and For Jesus (TWIF Jesus) for the glory of God Alone!
