ÑAÑA, Peru - From January 19 to 23, 2026, the Assembly of the Peru-Brazil Delegation of the Montfort Missionaries was held. This privileged space for encounter, discernment, and fraternal communion allowed the confreres to reflect on the journey so far, the current challenges, and the future prospects of their mission in Latin America.

The Assembly took place in the presence of the Superior General, Father Yoseph Putra Dwi Darma WATUN, accompanied by several members of the General Administration: Fathers Jesús CUCHO, Balaswamy KATA, and Marco PASINATO. Their participation testified to their closeness and communion with the Delegation and offered an opportunity to share their concerns, challenges, and reflections regarding the life and mission of the congregation in the region. In their remarks, they emphasized the importance of community discernment, formation, fidelity to the Montfortian charism, and the need to strengthen collaboration among the Latin American entities.

The assembly took place in an atmosphere of listening, dialogue, and prayer, constantly inspired by the Word of God, reminding participants that the most fruitful decisions come from fervent communities, called to live in unity, docility to the Holy Spirit, and a sincere search for God's will, far removed from any personal ambition.

One of the highlights of the assembly was the discernment and appointment of the new administration of the Peru-Brazil Delegation. Following a process of consultation, voting, and responsible dialogue, on January 22, 2026, Father Guilherme BRANDÃO was appointed Superior Delegate for a three-year term. Fathers Giovanni BIGONI, Jesu Dos RAYAPPAN, Luis SALVADOR ÁVILA, and Henry ESPINOZA were appointed as councilors. The new team expressed its willingness to serve, recognizing the importance of the mission entrusted to it and emphasizing the need to journey together.

Throughout the assembly, various relevant topics were addressed, including initial and ongoing formation, the accompaniment of lay people, the promotion of vocations, pastoral ministry, community life, and administration. Particular attention was paid to the work of the commissions and the preparations for the 8th Latin American Meeting on Montfortian Spirituality, demonstrating a commitment to deepening the experience of consecration to Jesus through Mary in the Latin American context. The assembly concluded with the celebration of the Eucharist for the installation of the new administration, in an atmosphere of gratitude and hope. This moment marked a turning point in our journey and expressed our desire to continue building a Delegation animated by fraternity, shared responsibility, and a common mission, entrusting the future to the maternal care of the Virgin Mary and the action of the Holy Spirit.
