ECATEPEC, Mexico - On Tuesday, September 8, 2026, the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we joyfully celebrated the total consecration to Jesus through Mary according to the method of Saint Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort at the Immaculate Conception Parish (Parroquia Inmaculada Concepción) in the Diocese of Ecatepec, Mexico.

Indeed, the spread of Montfortian spirituality, as well as the formation and accompaniment of the laity, have been among the pillars of the Montfortian foundation and missionary presence in Mexico for five years. Numerous lay people, priests, youth, the elderly, and people from all walks of life consecrate themselves to Jesus through Mary following the method of Father de Montfort, preparing themselves by reading the Treatise on True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, a widely distributed and popular work by Saint Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort.

With Saint Martin de Porres Parish as the missionary community under our care, we dedicate ourselves to the apostolate according to the pastoral guidelines of the Diocese of Ecatepec. We form and accompany the laity through the process of total consecration to Jesus through Mary, both within Saint Martin de Porres Parish and in other parishes across the diocese.

In this specific case, we accompanied and formed seventy (70) people from the Immaculate Conception Parish for four months. The group was led primarily by Father Constantin ATALIPA, SMM, with the assistance of Father Jesús CUCHO, SMM, General Assistant during his canonical visits, and Father Jorge Enrique GONZÁLEZ, SMM, who animated the spiritual retreat for the two groups of consecrated members from Saint Martin de Porres and Immaculate Conception on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Saint Martin de Porres.

It is worth noting that the celebration began at 6:00 PM with a solemn procession carrying all the Montfortian symbols of Totus Tuus, as prescribed in the Latin American Consecration Manual, inspired by the spirit and teachings of Father de Montfort.

The Mass was presided over by Father Humberto AYALA, pastor of the Immaculate Conception Parish. The homily was given by Father Jesús CUCHO, SMM. In his homily, Father Cucho explained to everyone what total consecration to Jesus through Mary consists of and why one should be consecrated. He revisited the words of Father de Montfort found in the Treatise on True Devotion to Mary several times: "...the more a soul is consecrated to Mary, the more it will be consecrated to Jesus Christ... the consecration of oneself to Jesus through Mary is nothing other than a perfect renewal of the vows and promises of Holy Baptism" (TD 120).

The liturgy was well-organized, featuring active participation from liturgical ministers from both Saint Martin de Porres and Immaculate Conception. The Agnus Dei religious sisters also demonstrated their deep involvement in this celebration. The Mass was attended by many people, particularly the family members of those consecrated that day, consecrated members from Saint Martin de Porres, consecrated members from Santa Cruz Parish in Ecatepec, and several other lay faithful coming from various places.

Holding lit candles in their hands, all the newly consecrated recited the formula provided in the Complete Works (ASE) of Father de Montfort after Communion. Each received the Totus Tuus cross and, in procession, presented an offering of a beautiful rose before the statue of the Virgin Mary. After the Mass, a fraternal Mexican-style meal was shared within the Immaculate Conception Parish to express the immense joy that inspired us all during this beautiful Totus Tuus celebration, to the satisfaction of every person present.
