TAMATAVE, Madagascar – On Monday, May 25, in memory of Mary, Mother of the Church, members of the Mary Queen of Hearts Association of Tamatave, from the three Montfortian parishes, bore witness to their faith as baptized Christians. Twenty-seven members renewed their Consecration to Jesus through Mary, one member made first consecration, and six new members were formally received.
This day was not chosen at random: Mary was present at the birth of the Church and accompanied the disciples as a spiritual Mother, a model of prayer, and a witness of faith. We too, as Montfortians, have chosen Mary, who is the easy, short, perfect, and sure way to Jesus in order to attain Christian perfection (DV 152).
Our spiritual preparation retreat, led by Father Jean-Claude RAMANDRAIVONONA, SMM, national coordinator of the Montfortian Associates, focused on true devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and the true meaning of Consecration to Jesus through her hands in our lives as baptized Christians. "True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin" was featured to shed further light on this beautiful practice initiated by our Saint Louis-Marie de Montfort. Other writings, such as "The Secret of Mary" and "Following Jesus Christ with Mary" by Alphonse BOSSARD, SMM, also enriched this retreat, not to mention Marian prayers. We celebrated this beautiful day with a convivial meal. The celebration is over, but our journey as missionaries begins.
For this Grace, we give Glory to Jesus in Mary, Glory to Mary in Jesus, Glory to God Alone!
