Day 24, FIM 2026 – Total Consecration Concluded
ROME, Italy - The sessions on Total Consecration according to St. Louis-Marie de Montfort came to a fitting conclusion on this day (5 June 2026). Fr. Hugh Gillespie SMM continued to guide the participants into the depth and richness of Montfortian spirituality by explaining the four great prepositions that characterize the life of one who has made Total Consecration: through Mary, with Mary, in Mary, and for Mary. He emphasized that these expressions ultimately lead to a deeper life through Jesus, with Jesus, in Jesus, and for Jesus, all for the greater glory of God.
Drawing from the writings of Saint Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort, Fr. Hugh showed how Mary always leads the soul to Christ and never becomes an end in herself. As St. Montfort reminds us, “Jesus Christ is the ultimate end of devotion to Mary.” The participants were encouraged to understand Total Consecration not merely as a devotional practice but as a way of life rooted in an ever-deepening relationship with Christ through Mary.
The entire afternoon session was devoted to questions and answers. Participants took advantage of the opportunity to seek clarification on various aspects of the consecration, and Fr. Hugh responded with patience, insight, and practical wisdom. The exchange was enriching and helped many participants deepen their understanding of Montfort's teachings.
At the conclusion of the course, Sr. Julien DW expressed heartfelt gratitude to Fr. Hugh on behalf of all the participants for his dedicated service during the previous two weeks. In a creative and expressive manner, she highlighted the value of his contribution to the formation program. As a sign of appreciation and gratitude, the participants presented him with a souvenir.
Thus ended a fruitful and transformative series of sessions on Total Consecration, leaving the participants inspired to continue living the Montfortian ideal of belonging entirely to Jesus through Mary.
