BALAKA, Malawi - On 12 September 2025, the feast day for the most Holy name of Mary, the Africa anglophone general delegation, at Brother Mathurin community (Andiamo- Balaka, Malawi), witnessed the grace bestowed by the lord of the vineyard. This was visibly seen during the eucharistic celebration, which marked the official opening of the 2025-2026 prepostulacy stage. In this celebration, nine young people of three nationalities (Malawi, Zambia and Uganda), said yes so that they can begin their formation in the company of Mary. These are: Gabriel Sakala, Emmanuel Likutcha, Laurent Mukosa, Tedson Gubudu, Leornard Meloke, Naijuka Edwin, Allan Agaba, Collins Ndyomugyenyi, and Anthony Gumusiriza.
This occasion was honoured by some Montfortian confreres, religious sisters, such as the Daughters of Wisdom, officiated by Bishop Emeritus Alessandro PAGANI, SMM. In his homily, he highlighted the primacy of the fiat of Mary. Just like Blessed Virgin Mary, out of faith, believed and said “Yes” to the message of the angel, the prepostulants were called to emulate the example of the mother of God. The deposition of Mary in their lives was considered to help them be perfect and faithful disciples of Jesus. The superior of Brother Mathurin community, Fr. Blaise JAILOSI, SMM, welcomed the new prepostulants and requested them to give thanks and pray for those who have helped them to reach where they are. He also invited them to continuously cooperate with their formators for growth to take place.
One of the representatives of the prepostulants thanked the formators for allowing them to begin this stage. He appreciated the diverse nationalities that were present and invited the members to reinforce the unity beyond national boundaries. He further requested the congregation present at the Holy Mass to pray for them. Lastly, the spiritual director of the prepostulants, Fr. Eugenio CUCCHI, SMM, reminded the prepostulants to take this opportunity to pray and be firm in their vocation discernment.
