EurHope26 Assembly kicks off in Rome

ROME, Italy – On Monday afternoon, June 8, 2026, the Superior General of the Society of Mary, Father Yoseph Putra Dwi Darma WATUN, SMM, delivered the opening address of the European Assembly (EurHope26), held in Rome at the Passionist House in Piazza dei Santi Giovanni e Paolo. This four-day assembly brings together the youngest confreres and superiors from the seven European entities of Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Great Britain.

In an ambience of synodality marked by roundtable setting and creating a space of genuine fraternity, open dialogue, and spiritual discernment, Father General invited the participants to revisit the essential elements of our charism as we reflect the European context marked by both great opportunities and profound challenges.

“As we reflect together during this assembly, we are invited to revisit the essential elements of our charism:

A passionate love for Jesus Christ, Eternal and Incarnate Wisdom.
A genuine devotion to Mary that leads to missionary discipleship.
A preferential concern for the poor, the marginalized, and those most in need of hearing the Gospel.
A spirit of availability, courage, and apostolic creativity in responding to the signs of the times.
A commitment to building communities that witness to communion, fraternity, and hope.”

In a profound display of collaborative reflection and dialogue, Fr. Marco PASINATO SMM, the General Assistant, facilitated an engaging assembly centred around community discernment. Utilizing the innovative approach known as "Conversation in the Spirit," Fr. Marco guided participants through presentations by superiors of entities complemented by moments of silence, active listening, and meaningful sharing.
