NAIROBI, Kenya –- On the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, August 15, 2025, Fr. Anthony Daniel CHILOLO, SMM, was installed as the Superior and Formator of the Montfort Missionaries Scholasticate in Nairobi. The occasion was marked by a Eucharistic celebration that also saw the renewal of vows by five Montfortian scholastics and the renewal of consecration to Jesus through Mary by the Montfortian Lay Associates in Kenya.
The Mass was presided over by Fr. Jacob Otieno OMBIDI, SMM, the Superior Delegate of the General Delegation of Anglophone Africa.
During the rite of installation, Fr. Anthony, holding the Bible and the Constitutions of the Missionaries of the Company of Mary, professed his commitment to the Catholic faith and vowed to uphold the teachings of the Church, live by the Gospel values, and promote Montfortian spirituality and charism. He pledged to guide the scholastics in the footsteps of St. Louis-Marie de Montfort, faithfully leading the community “à la Montfort” in accordance with the Constitutions of the Congregation.
In his homily, Fr. Jacob reflected on the day’s solemnity, highlighting the Christian hope revealed in Mary’s Assumption. “The fact that Mary was assumed into heaven, body and soul, is a sign of certain hope,” he said. “What God has accomplished in Mary shows us our destiny, that one day we too will share in Christ’s resurrection.” Addressing Fr. Anthony directly, he encouraged him to embody this hope and the spirit of St. Louis-Marie de Montfort in his new leadership and formation mission.
The joy of the day was heightened as five scholastics: Brs. Charles IRAGENA, Chancy MTERERA, Emmanuel ANTHONY, Phillip YOLA, and Eric FUNDI renewed their religious vows with faith and devotion. Their commitment was a sign of perseverance and generosity in responding to God’s call.
Adding to the joy of the day, the Scholasticate community officially welcomed five new scholastics who had recently made their first profession of vows on August 6 at the Novitiate in Mbarara, Uganda. Their arrival brought new life to the Scholasticate family, increasing the number of scholastics in this community to ten.
The entire celebration was a beautiful testimony of God’s faithfulness, the joy of consecrated life, and the spirit of Saint Louis de Montfort, which continues to inspire and guide the mission of the Montfort Missionaries.
