Inter Montfortian Retreat in Indonesia

MALANG, Indonesia – From July 21 to 26, 2025, Montfortian Asia-Oceania held an Inter Montfortian Retreat in Indonesia. This retreat was attended by the three major Montfortian families: the Montfortian Fathers (from Indonesia and the Philippines), the Brothers of St. Gabriel (from Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia, and Flores), and the Daughters of Wisdom Sisters (from Indonesia). The Inter Montfortian Retreat was guided by Fr. Paul Arnel LUCERO, SMM (Fr. Dodong).

During the retreat, Fr. Dodong invited the participants to explore Montfortian spirituality within the framework of Christianity. He then encouraged participants to understand the Love of Eternal Wisdom in a new way. Firstly, he emphasized that this book is a mystical book. Because it is mystical, it must be understood from a mystical perspective. Without this approach, many of St. Montfort’s expressions in the book could easily be misunderstood. Fr. Dodong went on to explain how to approach the Love of Eternal Wisdom mystically, and the path toward mystical union with Jesus according to St. Montfort.

The retreat was held in an atmosphere of silence, but everyone was free to speak when there was something meaningful to share. Each day included two sessions—one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Every evening, a special time was set aside for participants who wished to have personal consultations with Fr. Dodong.

Fr. Dodong delivered highly engaging presentations, which sparked great enthusiasm among the participants. Their excitement also stemmed from their interest in finally understanding the Love of Eternal Wisdom, a book previously considered difficult to comprehend.

On the final day, all participants were given the opportunity to share their thoughts and insights on the retreat experience. Everyone expressed deep gratitude and appreciation for being able to participate in this retreat and for gaining enlightenment in understanding the Love of Eternal Wisdom.
