BANGALORE, India - The Marian Centre of the Vice Province of India organized a summer course on Mary in the Scriptures from June 1-6, 2024, in Bangalore, India. The resource person for the course was Fr. Alexander SWAMY NATHAN, SMM, the newly appointed director of the Marian Centre, marking his first activity since taking on the role. Eight scholastics, who are theology students (First Cycle) in Eluru, India, participated in this annual program.

The sessions focused primarily on New Testament texts, specifically St. Paul’s letters and the Gospels. The methodology employed was predominantly exegetical and theological, exploring Mary’s presence in the New Testament while also considering references to her in the Old Testament.

The classes emphasized interaction and dialogue, with participants actively engaging in discussions. Special attention was given to Montfort’s Christocentric Mariology, grounded in Scripture. The students showed great enthusiasm in discovering Montfort’s theological perspectives aligned with the Scriptures, which deepened their appreciation for Montfort and his Mariological theology.
