SAINT LAURENT-SUR-SÈVRE, France – On Wednesday, April 10, 2019, it was a day full of joy for the International Community of Montfort Missionaries in Saint Laurent-sur-Sèvre when all the participants of the Montfortian International Formation (MIF) sent by Montfort Missionaries (SMM) arrived safe and sound in Saint-Laurent. Among those who arrived were: Fr. Melkior Jelalu and Fr. Egidius Sumarno from Indonesia; Fr. Francis Bulipe and Fr. Johnson from India; Father Anthony Daniel Chilolo from Malawi; Fr. Norwyn and Fr. Federick from the Philippines. Fr. Lorens Ola and Mrs. Brenice Eno (lay associate) from Papua New Guinea arrived the day before.
This formation under the field of Montfortian Missionary Spirituality, of which these confreres from different entities will participate, will take place in communion with the Daughters of Wisdom and the Montfort Brothers of St. Gabriel. Participants from the latter two groups will be arriving soon here in Saint-Laurent. The sessions involving these three Montfortian Congregations will be in English. Originally, this activity is scheduled from April 14 to May 26, 2019. However, the participants sent by SMM will be extending their stay for another two weeks after the official session to have a pilgrimage "on the steps of Montfort". Hence, SMM participants will end their session on June 15, 2019.
The abovementioned confreres were welcomed at the Nantes-Atlantique Airport by Fr. Paulin and Fr. Arnold. On their first evening, the international community organized a dinner together at the provincial house, Gabriel Deshayes. It was a beautiful moment of encounter between the participants and the community, most especially to the participants. This introductory dinner was memorable as some of them met for the first time. Fr. Olivier, the Provincial, was our "chef" during that evening who prepared everything for us.
To our dear confreres, welcome to Saint-Laurent. May you enjoy your stay in the cradle of the big Montfortian family.
Fr. Arnold Suhardi, SMM
