FLORES, Indonesia - The Montfort Youth Spiritual Camp is a spiritual activity for junior high and high school students in the SMM Flores service area. This program is designed as a biennial initiative to reach out to young people. They are introduced into the spirituality of Saint Montfort.

The first spiritual camp was held at the SMM Nggorang community, Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai-Flores. The second was held at the SMM Ruteng Novitiate community, Ruteng-Flores. And the third was held at the Saint Anthony of Padua Parish in Mbeling, Borong-East Manggarai-Flores. The camp was held from Wednesday to Friday, July 1-3, 2026, and was attended by 185 participants from the Montfort Youth of the SMM Nggorang community in Labuan Bajo, the Montfort Youth of the SMM Ruteng Novitiate community, the Montfort Youth of the Saint Montfort Parish in Poco, and the Montfort Youth of the Saint Anthony of Padua Parish in Mbeling.

Priests and two SMM brothers were also present to provide guidance throughout the camp. In one of his messages, Father KASMIR SMM stated that the spiritual activities for Montfort Youth are not simply a time to meet, but rather to strengthen each other in faith and walk together in service, as Saint Montfort did in his life. Young people must not lose their way, let alone despair or lack enthusiasm. Therefore, this activity aims to fill young people with a spirit of freedom to follow God. The all-or-nothing spirit serves as the foundation and guideline for their activities throughout the event. Participants were strengthened in the Eucharistic celebration as the source and goal of a life of faith.

A material session presented by Father Haris DOMINGGUS, SMM highlighted the Virgin Mary as a mother and role model of faith for young people. Father Haris invited young people to see the person of Mother Mary as sincere and holy. She listened to the Word of God, meditated on it, and put it into practice in her lives. Meanwhile, Father Frans DANGA, SMM encouraged young people to use AI (Artificial Intelligence) wisely. The existence of AI should not lead us to the dangers of evil, but rather to use it as a tool to do good and glorify God through social media and daily activity.

In addition, there were also art performances from each contingent like traditional dance, vocal group and singing, outbound activities, and a night of light, led by Father Marsel NGEBU, SMM. In his message, he reminded young people to cultivate the fire of passion within themselves. To keep that fire burning, it needs fuel. That fuel is none other than prayer, works of charity, and a passion for service. Montfort Youth must never lose their passion for life.

This activity ran smoothly thanks to the support and assistance of many parties. This included the young Catholics of the Saint Anthony of Padua Parish in Mbeling, who served as committee members, donors, parishioners from the local parish and outside the parish, and the prayers of many others.
