Renewal of vows in the Montfortian juniorate of Latin America

LIMA, Peru – On July 20, 2026, in a solemn atmosphere in the chapel of the Latin American Juniorate, the Eucharistic ceremony for the renewal of temporary vows of Junior Brothers Oscar Alexander Ruiz Aguirres, Luis Antonio Ramos Álvarez, Janier Omar García Murillo, Joel Airukkaran Joseph, María Joseph Irudaya Macmillan Mahesh, Vitor Galvanin Araujo, Didier Mauricio Naranjo Agudelo, and Diego Alexander Castaño Gaviria was celebrated. They renewed their vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience, thus reaffirming their commitment to continue dedicating their lives to the Lord in the Company of Mary Montfortian Missionaries. The Daughters of Wisdom Sisters participated in the celebration, and it was a pleasure to have them in their company.

The Eucharist was presided over by Father Luis Salvador ÁVILA, SMM who received the renewal of vows from the junior brothers in his capacity as advisor to the General Delegation of Peru-Brazil. During his homily, Father Luis first exhorted the professed brothers to embrace the formative process of their religious life with seriousness and responsibility, since religious consecration is a serious commitment to God; it is something sacred. Therefore, the renewal of vows is a renewal of our commitment, our total commitment.

He also mentioned that, as religious, we are called to be prophetic signs amidst the complexities and crises facing the world today; to be prophetic signs within the community, within the congregation. But for our lives to be prophetic signs in today's world, we must cultivate a constant "conversation" with the Lord, that is, be people of prayer. Cultivating spiritual discipline in daily life is essential, for without this personal encounter with the Lord in prayer, we cannot be prophetic signs, nor actively respond to the challenges of our environment. And Father de Montfort, in the prayer of the Ardent Supplication, asks for his company, “free men, according to the will and heart of God”; so let us allow ourselves to be guided by the Lord.

Finally, he emphasized the importance of cultivating the courage necessary to persevere in the vocation to religious life. This renewal was a profoundly significant and life-giving moment for the Latin American juniorate community, which strengthens the shared fraternity with the Daughters of Wisdom and renews the prophetic dynamism of the religious in their journey of following Christ. Let us pray for the perseverance of these brothers.
