Totus Tuus Journey: Consecration of the First Batch of Filipinos at the Generalate Grotto
ROME, Italy - Sunday, 12th of September 2021, the Feast of the Holy Name of Mary, twenty-four lay people made their consecration to Jesus through Mary according to the teachings of St. Louis-Marie de Montfort. The celebration of the Holy Eucharist and the Rite of Consecration started at 11:00 a.m. at the grotto of the Generalate in Rome. It was presided by the Assistant General, Fr. Arnold Suhardi, SMM who is also in-charge of the Commissions on Lay Associates and Spirituality in the Company of Mary.
In an interview with SMM Communications Team, Fr. Arnold who accompanied the group said he was more than happy to see their joy and the dream of Fr. Rey, SMM coming into reality.
“I personally feel that with this public manifestation of the consecration, they are able to appreciate on how and what consecration is all about. I feel that Fr. Rey is happy that his dream of sharing our treasure of Consecration has finally come into reality and the First Batch of the Filipinos who underwent the Totus Tuus Journey (TTJ) in Rome are very convinced, involved and encourage each other to participate in the TTJ so that in the future they will understand better our spirituality,” he remarked.
In his remarks, Fr. Reynaldo Bullas Jr., SMM who is also the chaplain (in-charge of the Montfort Filipino community said he is happy for the First Batch and the commitment of Fr. Arnold, SMM.
“I am glad that at last we have succeeded to have this formation concretely. I see that they are very interested in the spirituality and they are hungry for spiritual food. I could not manage alone to prepare modules because I have also much work to do in communications. I am so happy that Fr. Arnold, SMM is collaborating with me and accompanied the group until they have made their consecration,” Fr. Rey said.
One of the TTJ First Batch members, Elvira P. Arcano could not hide her emotions after the consecration.
“I really feel emotionally the holiness of the Lord. I feel the love of God, the spirit of God deeply present in my soul. I encourage others to join and have this wonderful experience.” She said slowly with tears of joy.
Present during the Consecration were Frs. Reynaldo Bullas Jr., SMM, Steven Mukusa, SMM, Louis-Marie Montfort V. Souffrant, SMM, Jailos Augustine Mpina, SMM, Bro. Jean Desire Rakotonandrasana, SMM and the members of the Montfort Filipino Community. After the celebration a sumptuous meal was shared by everyone.
