Twenty-two Montfortians challenge individualism to build the community of tomorrow

PONTCHÂTEAU, France - On Tuesday, May 19, 2026, twenty-two confreres of the Montfortian Vice-Province of France gathered in Pontchâteau for an intercommunity meeting centered on the theme of moving from "I" to "We," a focus already underway since the beginning of the year. After the invocation of the Holy Spirit and the reading of the Word, Father Santino BREMBILLA SMM reminded everyone, drawing from the General Constitutions, that the Company of Montfort is an apostolic community where fraternal life is at the service of mission. "By this everyone will know that you are my disciples: if you love one another" (John 13:35), he emphasized. The discussions highlighted both the needs (fraternity, spiritual accompaniment, formation, mutual trust) and the difficulties inherent in international and intergenerational communities. The confreres underscored the urgency of continuing dialogue, living out forgiveness, and defining clear roadmaps, in collaboration with the laity and the dioceses.
The day continued with Mass presided over by Father Marcel COROLLER SMM at the Notre-Dame du Calvaire chapel, followed by a fraternal lunch. In the afternoon, participants prayed the rosary while walking the path of the founders before sharing an update from each community. Father Paulin RAMANANDRAIBE SMM announced several upcoming events: the vice-province pilgrimage in April 2027, the Montfortian march in Italy at the end of May, the gathering of young European Montfortians in Rome in June, as well as the completion of work on the museum and housing in Saint-Laurent-sur-Sèvre, with the inauguration planned for September. The next meeting is scheduled for September 22, 2026, in Montfort-sur-Meu.
