CANADA - Because of the delay in the approval of their visa to Canada, they had to postpone their visit to November 12. Only Father Yoseph Putra Dwi Darma WATUN, SMM, Superior General, received his visa for the visit. Father Lonely Paul MASHONGA, SMM, representative for America, is still waiting for his visa.
Upon arrival, Father General visited the confreres in the four places where we live: the residence in Laval with two confreres, the Sanctuaire Marie-Reine-des-Coeurs in Montreal where eight confreres are located, Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, parish in Ottawa, where four confreres work, and Petite-Nation parishes, where one confrere is present. He also visited the Daughters of Wisdom in Montreal and Ottawa as well as the Brothers of Saint Gabriel in Montreal.
On November 14, a meeting of the vice-province took place at our sanctuary in Montreal. After a short prayer, the Father General gave us an overview of the congregation worldwide. This pleasantly gave us hope for the future of our congregation. Subsequently, Father Doris Sullivano TOMBAOSA, SMM, superior of the vice-province, shared with us an overview of our current situation with possibilities for new confreres to ensure continuity of the mission in Canada.
The General Father also took time to visit our groups of associates. They appreciated his visit and information about Montfortian associates around the world. After brief visits to nearby areas, he was scheduled to fly back to Rome on November 17.
