JOÃO MONLEVADE/MG, Brazil - “The more a soul is consecrated to Mary, the more it will be consecrated to Jesus Christ,” says Saint Louis-Marie de Montfort in the True Devotion, no. 119. December 8, 2023 was filled with great joy as we celebrated the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception.

The Center of Montfortian Spirituality and the Mary Queen of All Hearts Association celebrated a very special day: the Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary, in two parishes: São Luis Maria de Montfort Parish in João Monlevade and Nossa Senhora Aparecida Parish, in the Atos dos Apóstolos Community, in Ipatinga.

In João Monlevade, parish of São Luís Maria de Montfort, the preparation took place in João Monlevade for three months, every Friday, accompanied by Fathers Guilherme, SMM and Jesu Doss, SMM and Brother Vitor, SMM, theology student.

The preparation consisted of three stages: first, the study of the True Devotion; second, the 33 days of Spiritual Exercises and finally, a retreat during which everyone prepared themselves spiritually through the sacrament of confession. We therefore arrived on December 8 well prepared for the total consecration to Jesus through Mary. The solemn celebration was presided over by Fr. Jesu Doss and concelebrated by Fr Guilherme. It is a very significant celebration for us: there were a total of 78 consecrated and 95 who renewed their consecration. Special thanks to the entire liturgical team who prepared the Church with great love and care, which made this special day easier, especially since after the Consecration prayer they offered to the Virgin Mary a white rose as a sign of gratitude and devotion. It was a very moving moment.

In Ipatinga, parish of Nossa Senhora Aparecida, as happens every year, about 80 people made the consecration and many others renewed it. A very nice moment for a group of around 200 people. People are prepared, sometimes through a personal process or through the booklets offered by the Montfortian Spirituality Center and await this date with great emotion. It is a group which little by little consolidates itself by deepening the spirituality of Saint Louis-Marie de Montfort, and by finding its place within the evangelizing mission and within their communities in parish life. We therefore arrived at this long-awaited day, prepared with so much love and dedication with the help of the laity and leaders of the Nossa Senhora Aparecida parish of Ipatinga, where, in the Mass presided over by Fr. Guilherme, the total consecration to Jesus through the hands of Mary took place.

Also, in the town of São Domingos do Prata, during a solemn celebration presided over by Fr. Jesu Doss, and in the town of Alvinópolis, presided over by Fr. Marcos, parish priest, the consecration of a group linked to the Montfortian Spirituality Center.
