Montfortian Pilgrimage

The pilgrimage organized by the Montfort Missionaries, Daughters of Wisdom and their lay associates last April, 20, 2013 was the Society’s 16th Marian pilgrimage. This activity was in keeping with the call of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI to celebrate the Year of Faith and also their way of commemorating the death anniversary of their founder St. Louis Marie de Montfort on April 28.
130 pilgrims consisting of 8 Montfort priests, seminarians, sisters and postulants from the Daughters of Wisdom, Marian devotees, Totus Tuus Journeyers and Legionaries from the Senatus of Northern Philippines visited the following pilgrim churches in the Archdiocese of Pampanga: Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary in Angeles City, St. Catherine of Alexandria, and Christ, Light of All Nations in Porac, St. Joseph the Worker in Floridablanca, St. Augustine of Hippo in Lubao and St. Lucy, Martyr in Sasmuan.
The pilgrimage was another special and unique experience for all the participants just like their Montfort Marian Lenten retreat held last March. Again the Montfort Missionaries provided all the participants a journey to Jesus, accompanied by the Blessed Mother, guided and inspired by St. Louis Marie de Montfort.
At the conclusion of the pilgrimage, Fr. Carmelo Esteban SMM, the pilgrimage organizer, had this spiritual message to the pilgrims: “Let us give thanks to the Lord who has given us this time of special grace. After visiting the Holy Churches, we are now invited to renew our lives. The sanctuary is a sign of a house not made by human hands... We are the living stones of which the Church is made, built on the cornerstone which is Christ. Returning now to our respective homes, let us live in conformity with our vocation, in virtue of which we have become a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s very own people. We have been entrusted with the mission to announce the power of Christ who has called us out of darkness into His wonderful light.”
