CANADA - Here are a few pictures describing some activities of the confreres and lay associates in Canada.
1. Holy Thursday celebration at the Montreal Shrine. Large crowds participated in the celebrations of the Easter triduum. We can see on this photo Fr Joseph Larose washing the feet of twelve people on Holy Thursday celebration.
2-3-4. Pascal vigil. 2: Celebration of the light. 3. Chicks, goldfish and a rabbit symbolized the gifts of Creation. 4.During the Gospel reading, a mime described the three women at the tomb of Jesus.
5-6. On April 8, confreres joined in a celebration to mark the 35th anniversary of religious profession of Brother Philip Abranches. Philip served generously in many places in Canada and also at the Generalate. Many friends and lay associates joined with us in this celebration.
7-8-9. In Canada, lay associates commit themselves not only to live by the Montfortian spirituality, but also to engage in the mission of the Montfortians. Aware of the difficult situation of many people living in poverty or loneliness, some associates have initiated a program called ‘co-pain’ (literally: bread or friend with). They organize special activities for these people. On April 4, some associates, with Brother Gilles Paquette and some Daughters of Wisdom, brought some 20 people to the ‘sugar shack’ where maple syrup is made by boiling the sap. Everyone was happy to sing, share a good meal, and have a sleigh ride. The next outing will be a picnic in a large park in East Montreal.
