Weekend of Marian and Montfortian Spirituality
LORETO, Italy - From September 15 to 17, the meeting that was organized by the Italian Province and directed by Fr. Giuseppe DAMINELLI, SMM, provincial councilor in charge of the spirituality commission, resumed in Loreto after the suspension due to the pandemic. The recipients are all those who have chosen Saint Louis-Marie de Montfort as their spiritual master and for those who wish to know him or embark on the path of holiness traced by him. The Archbishop of Loreto, Msgr. Fabio DAL CIN, welcomed the 200 participants, emphasizing Jesus Christ as the sole goal of all spirituality.
The weekend entitled “Montfort, who are you really? ... 350 years after his birth” offered three conferences. In his conference entitled “Evangelization and reform of the Church in Saint Louis de Montfort”, Fr. Pier Luigi NAVA, SMM showed how the life and personality of Montfort have a lot to teach even to us who are far from him in terms of time and culture and spiritual sensitivity.
The conference by Sandra MAZZOLINI, from the Urbaniana University of Rome, was entitled: “Evangelization and reform of the Church today”. By choosing to obey God and not the world, the Christian is not alone, but the Holy Spirit comes to his aid (cf. Acts 13:1-4).
Finally, Fr. Battista CORTINOVIS, SMM, with the conference entitled “The Marian way for a new evangelization”, showed how the writings of Montfort, simple and short, but incisive in their style and effective in their spiritual objective, traveled the world and their diffusion continues today in a world that lives the values of modernity.
Two Eucharistic celebrations in the Basilica of the Holy House were presided over respectively by the Superior General, Fr. Yoseph Putra Dwi Darma WATUN, SMM and the Archbishop of Loreto. Other celebrations such as Eucharistic Adoration, confessions, and the torchlight procession, with an act of consecration to Mary, completed the spiritual richness of the weekend. The last morning, devoted to testimonies and interventions from the groups present, highlighted the fruitfulness of the Montfortian consecration and the unanimous desire to pursue together a path of formation and mission.
The conference was also the occasion in which the Provincial, Fr. Angelo SORTI, SMM, presented Fr. Efrem ASSOLARI, SMM as the new national coordinator of the groups with a role of animation, coordination, and formation. Fr. Efrem will be supported in Loreto by a team of confreres, who will also have a mission of animation at the Marian sanctuary and in our parish of “via Musone”.
