MINAS GERAIS, Brazil - On Saturday, 9th September 2023, the long-awaited 2nd Gathering of Totus Tuus was held in the cozy city of Ipatinga, Minas Gerais, Brazil. It was organized by a laity, Mrs. Rosearia – famously known as “Rose” who was consecrated to Jesus through Mary, according to the method of St. Louie-Marie de Montfort. She is a woman who is well known for her dedication in the church and in various church activities. Among the participants were from different places, such as Caratinga, Colonel Fabriciano and João Monlevade, thus representing a group of one hundred fifty people. Most of them are consecrated to Jesus through Mary.
Father Jesu DOSS, SMM, accompanied by seminarian Vitor GALVANIN, SMM, guided the whole day program with the spirit of prayer, reflection, and meditation as he motivated the group who are already consecrated as well as those who wish to consecrate themselves and go deeper into the spiritual itinerary of Father de Montfort.
The reflections made on the life of St. Louie-Marie de Montfort was shared by our Scholastic Vitor, within the expectation of love, an essential attribute in the story of our founder, who in life experienced a deep personal encounter with Jesus, the Eternal and Incarnate Wisdom, through Mary, making this encounter a personal itinerary of spirituality, surrender and donation.
Likewise, Father Jesu Doss shared and stressed on the essence of the consecration proposed by Father de Montfort as a way of living a deeper and more sincere adhesion to Jesus, through the renewal of baptismal promises, inviting each person to effectively abandon oneself in the hands of the Virgin Mary, to live a sincere experience of being a child of God and of transformation in the saving mystery. The way of living consecration in daily life was a valuable topic that wanted to emphasize, through the internal and external practices proposed by Father de Montfort. That today, it is possible to consecrate oneself and live a tender and filial abandonment in the hands of the Virgin Mary, as a way of being Church today and contributing to life of people and the ecclesial context of each consecrated person.
The day was well organized by various moments dedicated to Our Lady as we sang the Office of the Immaculate, the Chaplet of the Mercy and also recited the Holy Rosary meditating on the joyful mysteries. We concluded the day with the Thanksgiving Mass for this 2nd Gathering of Totus Tuus, illuminated by the liturgy of the day. Moreover, Fr. Jesu DOSS, SMM exhorted the participants to live “holy, immaculate and unwavering in the faith and hope of the Gospel” (cf. Col 1:21-23) with the help of the Virgin Mary and the spiritual itinerary proposed by Saint Louis-Marie de Montfort.
