Echo of the Opening of the Jubilee of the 350th Anniversary of the Birth of Montfort

MONTFORT-SUR-MEU, France - On February 20, 2022, Sunday at 10:30 a.m., a celebration opened the jubilee of the 350^th anniversary of the birth of Montfort in the Church of Saint Louis-Marie in Brocéliande (Montfort-sur-Meu). The celebration was presided over by Cardinal Philippe Barbarin.

The opening of the jubilee was honored in the presence of Sr. Marie-Françoise Vivien, the Provincial of the Daughters of Wisdom and Bro. Claude Marsaud, the Provincial of the Brothers of Saint Gabriel. The two provincials brought in procession the relics of Father de Montfort. SMM Fathers Santino BREMBILLA and Roger DUVAL were also present together with a dozen priests from the Deanery and some friends. The Church in Montfort-sur-Meu was full with the presence of the Montfortian lay associates who gave importance to this event and they felt well included.

Cardinal Barbarin emphasized that Father de Montfort, a great ardent missionary, must be our model in our vocation as a witness and a missionary sent by Jesus Christ. We must commit ourselves like him with faith and conviction. The celebration was also marked by the Sacrament of Confirmation of Jean-Baptiste, a young man from the parish. Let us remember that Louis Grignion added "Marie" to his name on the day of his Confirmation, according to Joseph Grandet.

The celebration was well prepared by the committee and well animated by the parish musicians. Everyone was immersed in joy. After the Eucharistic celebration, about twenty people shared the fraternal meal at the “Maison Natale”.

The jubilee year opens to better discover our holy Founder through different initiatives proposed during the year. This celebration had given us new strength for the openness of mind and soul to live this time of grace that the Lord offers us, the Jubilee Year!
