LIMA, Peru - From July 18 to July 20 of this year, the retreat of preparation for the renewal of religious vows took place in the retreat house of Saint Martin de Porres (former Foyer de Charité) in Ñaña, Lima, which was preached by Father Giovanni BIGONI, SMM. During the retreat, we reflected and meditated on the meaning of the vocation and the process of the Juniorate. Considering that brothers Amos Beaubrun and Joasemsky Blanc are finishing the Theology and brothers Didier and Alexander are concluding the Philosophy, the retreat was thought of as a time of synthesis, a personal evaluation of the Juniorate process. Reflections were offered on:
- The strength of vocation
- The vows
- The Juniorate as a place of vocational growth and identification with the religious charism
- The project of personal life which allows to gradually assume the proposal of formation for the Montfortian religious life
At the end of the day of retreat on July 20, we returned to the parish of Our Lady of the Visitation for the celebration of the Eucharist, commemorating the 76th anniversary of the canonization of Saint Louis-Marie de Montfort. During the celebration, the brothers Joasemsky Blanc, Amos Beaubrun, Bendy Daphnis, Gregory Pierre, Oscar Alexander Ruiz and Didier Mauricio Naranjo renewed their religious vows. And brothers Joansemsky Blanc and Amos Beaubrun who are finishing Theology this year will return to the Province of Haiti where they will make their perpetual vows.
The Eucharist was celebrated by Father José Ángel JULCAHUANCA, SMM, Superior of the Peru-Brazil General Delegation. In his homily, he highlighted three characteristics that religious must cultivate in their stages of temporary vows, quoting Pope Francis in his message to seminarians in Ohio (USA), which are: listening to what the Lord wants to say, deepening the spirit of fraternal communion and walking alongside the people to be the sign of Jesus present in the world. In addition, I would like to underline that our founder by his life and his spirituality motivates us to live these characteristics.
We entrust ourselves to your prayers to continue to ask Jesus Wisdom for these six brothers so that they continue with fidelity and with the ardent desire to work for the reign of Jesus through Mary.
