SAINT LAURENT-SUR-SÈVRE, France - The month of May, the month dedicated to the Virgin Mary, was a chance for the Christians who frequent the Basilica of Saint Louis-Marie de Montfort. An objective was set well from the start: living this Marian month as a month of intense prayer in union with the Virgin Mary who leads us on her missionary footsteps. This journey of daily rosary prayer and missionary commitment ended with a Marian vigil of thanksgiving which took place on May 28, 2022 at the Missionaries of the Company of Mary Chapel.
The central theme of the day was thus declared: “In the mission of the Church, Mary makes us missionary-disciples”. After a word of welcome which related to the theme of the day pronounced by Father Paulin, provincial superior of the missionaries of the Company of Mary in France, the procession began.
A banner of the Virgin Mary in front, in an atmosphere of joy and marian songs, rosaries in hand with the members of the Montfortian family, the Militant sisters of the Blessed Virgin and many other Christian faithful, with luminaries, went in procession through the gardens of the Montfort Missionaries. The procession ended where it had started: in the Chapel of the Missionaries of the Company of Mary with the final blessing followed by a fraternal sharing in the Hall “Notre Dame”.
Mary is a treasure, a gift given by Christ to us through the disciple whom Jesus loved who had to represent all the people of God at the foot of the Saviour’s Cross (cf. John 19:25-27).
May the Virgin Mary, our Mother, accompany us, protect us and commit us to the Mission of her Son in order to become like her, missionaries and disciples, joyful and radiant witnesses of the love of the Risen Christ always living in us.
