Né à Josselin en 1828, après l'ordination sacerdotale, il quitte l'enseignement de la théologie pour se joindre aux missionnaires de Saint Laurent. C'est durant son mandat que la décision fut prise : désormais le général ne sera plus élu à vie, mais pour 12 ans avec la possibilité d'être réélu. Ceci ne se produit pas pour lui puisqu'il meurt après 9 années de généralat. Deux fondations nouvelles ont lieu en 1878 : le sanctuaire du Marillais et la cure de la paroisse de Saint Laurent. Les actes de répression de la République française obligent à transférer à Schimmert (Hollande) le noviciat en 1881 et à ouvrir une fondation au Canada en 1883. On souffre de la confiscation des biens et de vexations diverses. En 1886, on entrevoit la fin du procès de béatification du Fondateur. Mais le P. Guyot ne verra pas ce moment car il meurt à seulement 56 ans, en 1886, après une longue et douloureuse maladie.

He was born in Josselin in 1828, and after his ordination to the priesthood, he gave up teaching theology to join the missionaries of Saint-Laurent. It was during his term of office that the decision was made that in future the Superiors General would not be elected for life, but for 12 years with the possibility of being re-elected. This made no difference to his own case, for he died after 9 years as Superior. Two new foundations were made in 1878: the Shrine of Le Marillais and the care of the parish of Saint-Laurent. The repressive regime of the French Republic forced the transfer of the novitiate to Schimmert in the Netherlands in 1881, and brought about a new foundation in Canada in 1883. The Congregation suffered the confiscation of its goods and various vexations. In 1886 the end of the process of beatification of our Founder was foreseen; but Fr. Guyot was not to see this moment, for he died aged just 58 in 1886, after a long and painful illness.

Durante il suo mandato si decide che il Superiore Generale non sia più nominato a vita ma per 12 anni, con la possibilità di essere rieletto. Non avviene per lui che muore dopo 9 anni di generalato. Sono da registrare due nuove fondazioni nel 1878: il santuario di Marillais e la cura della parrocchia di St. Laurent-sur-Sèvre. Gli atti di repressione della Repubblica Francese costringono nel 1881 a trasferire il Noviziato a Schimmert (Olanda) e ad aprire una fondazione in Canada nel 1883. La Congregazione subisce la confisca dei beni ed è soggetta a varie vessazioni. Nel 1886 si intravede la fine del processo di Beatificazione del Fondatore. Ma P. Guyot non vedrà questo momento perché muore a soli 58 anni nel 1886 dopo lunga e penosa malattia. E’ sepolto a St. Laurent-sur-Sèvre.
