“Sustained by the Mercy and Grace of God”- Montfortians welcome two new deacons
MAKATI CITY, Philippines - The missionaries of the Company of Mary welcomed two new deacons, namely: Armel R. COLLANTES, SMM, and Samuel M. GONZALES, SMM. The Ordination to the Sacred Order of Deacons was held last October 9, 2022, at 5 o’clock in the afternoon. The Ordination took place at Sta. Teresita Parish, Makati where it was led by Most Rev. Dennis C. VILLAROJO D.D., Bishop of Malolos.
The people of God, coming from the various communities and mission areas, flocked within the humble parish to witness the sacred rite and public profession of the newly ordained to a life of service and prayer. Together with the ordaining prelate, the community of priests of the Montfort Missionaries Philippines and other notable guest priests, Fr. Kenneth MASONG, CRM, and Fr. Ro ATILANO, SJ were present in praying and in welcoming the newly ordained deacons. Families, relatives, and friends of the candidates were also found in attendance at this momentous celebration. The presence of the church communities and apostolate areas, where they were assigned, filled the pews with joyful admiration and hope-filled prayers for the new deacons. More importantly, the participation of the parish community of Sta. Teresita Parish contributed in making this a memorable celebration of God’s infinite mercy and bountiful love.
Bishop Dennis, in his homily, reminded the newly ordained deacons to put on the lens of gratitude that they may see, work, and pray heartily in the sustenance and renewal of their spiritual life. “Let gratitude be the basis of your renewal in spiritual life”, Bishop Villarojo said. “In thanking for the graces, we receive from God daily, we grow closer and become intimate in our relationship with Him”, he added.
Their journey was not easy as it seems, but they were sustained by the grace and mercy of God, through the aid of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and with the inspiration of St. Louis Marie de Monfort. Towards the end of the Eucharistic celebration, was the announcement of their respective assignments as deacons. Deacon Armel is sent to the St. Louis Marie de Montfort Chaplaincy in Bulusan, Pangasinan. While Deacon Samuel Gonzales, SMM is assigned to the community of Sta. Teresita Parish, Makati.
