The Center is a foundation of the parish of Póvoa de Santo Adrião, Diocese of Lisbon with civil recognition by the Portuguese state intended to support children, the elderly and bedridden patients and the unemployed looking for work, among others.
It currently has 38 employees and provides support to more than 850 people every month. The inauguration began with the Holy Eucharist that was presided over by the Patriarch of Lisbon, Mgr. Rui Manuel Sousa VALÉRIO, SMM and was concelebrated by the Apostolic Nuncio in Portugal, the Montfortian community of Póvoa de Santo Adrião, Fr. Amilcar TAVARES, SMM (the Superior of the Delegation), Fr. Luis FERREIRA, SMM (first president of the Center’s Board) and several diocesan priests.
After the Eucharist, a solemn session was held in the parish hall in which the parish priest and president of the Board, the President of the Municipal Council of Odivelas, the Nuncio and the Patriarch of Lisbon took the floor. The latter as a parish priest began the works that have now been completed.
After the blessing, a visit to the new facilities took place, ending with a meal for guests and parishioners.
