Montfortian Consecration for Legion of Mary’s Members

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines - On December 8, 2022, Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, for the very first time, the TTJ has finally reached Mindanao with 45 Legion of Mary officers and members of the Senatus of Mindanao who made their Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary according to St. Louis-Marie de Montfort. The 33-day Preparation for Total Consecration started after the launching of the Totus Tuus Journey held on October 13, 2022 on the Feast of the Final Apparition of Our Lady of Fatima.
The Rite of Consecration was incorporated within the celebration of the Eucharist which started at 2:00 in the afternoon at Patrick Cronin Formation Center, St. Augustine’s cathedral of the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro. It was presided by Rev. Fr. Federick B. YUMANG, SMM, the National Director of the Association of Mary Queen of All Hearts, and Delegation Secretary, together with Rev. Armel R. COLLANTES, SMM. The first part of the liturgy of consecration, the Allegiance to the Word, was held near the entrance of the Formation Center. Then, the entire assembly held in procession to the lower right side of the venue for the Renewal of Baptismal Promises. Afterwards, the remaining parts of the Liturgy: The Total Consecration and the Liturgy of the Eucharist was held at the altar. Fr. Federick, in his homily, highlighted the importance of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of Mary and its deep connection and challenge to the living out of the Total Consecration that like Mary, we may be always humble, listen and open to the voice of God revealing to us our identity and respond with readiness and zeal for the love of God.
Towards the end of the liturgy, Fr. Federick congratulated all the newly consecrated Legionaries and thanked the entire Senatus of Mindanao led by their Senatus President, Sis. Daisy Caingles. In turn, Sis. Daisy, in behalf of the Legion of Mary, thanked also the Montfort Missionaries for their time and effort in giving the sessions for the Totus Tuus Journey in Mindanao for the first time and hoped that more TTJ batches be made after the successful and fruitful 1st batch. Aside from Fr. Federick and Rev. Armel, the processing, introduction to each stage of the TTJ process were also given by Fr. Norwyn V. BAYDO, SMM, the delegation superior, Rev. Fr. Sherwin Y. NUÑEZ, SMM, the delegation vicar and Rev. Samuel M. GONZALES, SMM.
Before the consecration, on December 7, 2022, the 45 newly consecrated Legionaries had their recollection at ELIM Hall of the Cathedral at 2:00 PM which was facilitated by Rev. Armel R. COLLANTES, SMM. It was a sharing of the fruit of their 33-day journey and a reflection and input on how to cultivate and practice their Total Consecration to Jesus Through Mary.
The celebration ended around 4:30 PM. A simple meal was prepared and served by the Legionaries and shared by everyone praising God thru Mary on this Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of Mary. Everyone went home filled with love and gratitude to Wisdom- Jesus for having given them the grace of Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary. We continue to pray for all of them in living out of their Total Consecration (TWIF) Through, With, In, and For Mary so that they will be able to do everything Through, With, In, and For Jesus for the glory of God Alone!
