New Montfortian Presence in Montfort-sur-Meu
[FR]
MONTFORT-SUR-MEU, France - The influence of the spirituality of Father de Montfort and that of the Montfort missionaries in Montfort-sur-Meu experienced its golden age during the long years of presence of the novices at the birthplace. All of a sudden, Covid forced their departure. The birthplace tried to maintain its activities and continued to be a place of presence, visit and prayer. All of these are in perfect harmony with the life of the Saint Louis-Marie Parish in Brocéliande.
At the request of Mgr. Pierre D'Ornellas, Archbishop of Rennes, the Montfortians arrived in Saint Louis-Marie parish in Brocéliande at the beginning of September of this year. It’s a new Montfortian community at the service of the Parish. Fathers André LAUNAY, SMM and Willi SELMAN, SMM therefore settled at the presbytery of Montfort-sur-Meu. Father Blaise REBOTIER, who has accompanied the local Christian community until then, remains as administrator of the parish to lead the insertion of the two confreres in this new adventure. Remember that Father André was at Marillais and Father Willi was at Pontchâteau before coming to Montfort-sur-Meu.
While waiting for their arrival, the parish was under the responsibility of Father Paul HABERT and assisted by Father Blaise REBOTIER. They ensured the smooth running of the parish which continued to live.
We wish our two missionaries good adaptation. The mission is ad intra but it takes on an international and multi-generational color. This is one of the particularities of today’s Montfortians.
Fr. Olivier NANTENAINA, SMM
