ANTANANARIVO, Madagascar - The word mission comes from the Latin “mittere” and means “to send”. It is used in the Church to designate the mission that the Apostles received from Christ to announce the Good News of salvation to all men (Mt 28, 18-20).
It is in this sense that, on January 26, 2023, at the chapel of the postulancy Andraisoro, the sending on mission of Father Olivier NANTENAINA, SMM for France (Saint Laurent sur sèvre) took place. In fact, the ceremony took place during the daily Mass in the afternoon of the day, in the presence of many fellow priests, brothers, scholastics and postulants, and in the presence of the family of Father Olivier, and of some representatives of the lay associates. The Mass was presided over by the superior of the Vice-Province, Father Bruno RANDRIANASOLO KIKY, SMM.
During the sharing that followed the proclamation of the Gospel, the president first thanked Father Olivier for having accepted the mission; then he recalled that the Church is essentially missionary by nature (Mt 28:18); and that France is a country which today needs evangelization again. The latter therefore has the mission of rekindling this dormant flame in the heart of his country of mission. The superior wished him with a word of blessing in order to carry out this mission entrusted to him by the Congregation. Finally, like a good father who blesses his son before a separation, Father Olivier received the blessing from his family and confreres.
The meeting ended with a dinner together before the departure of the envoy, the same day.
Good mission Father Olivier
United in prayer.
Joseph Victor RATAFITANIAINA, SMM
